About Maine South Music Boosters
The Maine South High School Music Booster Organization, also known as Maine South Music Boosters, is a parent-run organization that supports the music programs (Band, Chorus, Guitar, Orchestra, and Piano) at Maine South High School through:
The organization is led by an executive board and committee chairs, and it is funded through membership dues, donations, and fundraisers. Music Boosters general meetings are held throughout the year and include an update on the music program from a Fine Arts Department music teacher. General meeting dates for the 2022-2023 school year are Mondays, 8/22, 11/14, 2/6, and 4/3 at 7:00 p.m.
Please join the Music Boosters and get as involved as you can!
- Student scholarships for private music lessons, summer camps, and college.
- Financial support to the Maine South Music Department for music and recording equipment, guest musician artist clinics, uniforms, and other needs.
- Financial support toward student activities, including travel experiences, snacks, and rehearsal meals.
- Parent volunteers for music performances as well as other music department activities.

2021-2022 Music Boosters Highlights
During the 2021/22 school year we funded over $27,000 for the needs of music students and the music program at Maine South, including:
- $6,300+ in lesson scholarships
- $7,000 for senior scholarships
- $3,500+ for summer camp
- $4,000 for music department equipment (music stand move and store carts)
- $5,000 to support events (8th grade nights, rehearsal expenses, football state championship and Band SuperState)
2020-2021 Music Boosters Highlights
During the 2020/21 school year, the Music Boosters supported the music students and programs at Maine South in the following ways:
- $9,300+ in Private Lesson Scholarships
- Over $7,000 in Senior Scholarships
- $3,800 in support of our students and Summer Camp Scholarships
- $2,100 for the purchase of a Bass for the Orchestra Program
- Helped fund the purchase of a Tricaster ($2,500) used to stream concerts, productions, and marching band events
- Purchased music theory workbooks for students during virtual learning ($1,400)
2019-2020 Music Boosters Highlights
Among the Music Boosters investments in Maine South music students and programs during 2019-2020 were:
- $14,000 for over 836 private music lessons
- Over $7,000 for 18 senior scholarships to graduating music students
- $5,000 for the purchase of new audio and visual equipment for higher quality remote-streaming of concerts and performances.
2018-2019 Music Boosters Highlights
- Music lessons and scholarships:
- $13,500 for over 1,000 private music lessons
- $7,600 for 16 senior scholarships
- $2,300 for 7 summer camp scholarships
- Purchase of music department equipment needs:
- $2,000 toward unexpected instrument repair
- Amount to be determined toward the purchase of additional instruments and accessories prior to the start of school
- Meals or snacks for music students:
- Disbursements for meals to band, choir and orchestra students on their trips to perform at Disney World in Orlando and in New York
- Refreshments at orchestra meet and greet and post-orchestra concert receptions
- Dinners for spring musical cast, crew and pit orchestra
- Meals or snacks for marching, concert, and jazz band events
- Music department and music directors' requests, including:
- Purchase of t-shirts for incoming band and orchestra students
- Purchase of two amps for guitar classes
2017-2018 Music Boosters Highlights
- Funding music lessons and scholarships:
- $10,000 for over 800 private music lessons
- $7,000 for 16 senior scholarships
- $2,300 for 7 summer camp scholarships
- Aiding the purchase of music department equipment needs:
- $4,000 toward the purchase of a portable recording system
- $5,000 toward the purchase of Phase II of the sound system for the auditorium
- $1,000 for the purchase of new music stands
- $500 for the purchase of choir microphones
- Providing/coordinating meals or snacks:
- Orchestra meet and greet and post-orchestra concert receptions
- Dinners for spring musical cast, crew and pit orchestra
- Marching, concert, and jazz band events, including Northwestern University Band Day performance
- Funding music department and music directors' requests:
- Purchase of t-shirts for incoming band and orchestra students
- Additional sound staff for spring musical
